Thinking Entrepreneurial at Next Leader's Asia Summit 2019

Next Leader's Asia Summit 2019 will dig deep into sustainability to prepare tomorrow’s leaders. It’s on from 17 to 19 October in Singapore.

Next Leader's Asia Summit 2019 is an interactive, free event on leadership in challenging times. It hopes to impart tools of skills upgrading, technology, context and mindset to think entrepreneurially with sustainability in mind. Young people in business, budding entrepreneurs and students in tertiary institutions are encouraged to attend. The theme: ‘How to build young leaders to tackle sustainability challenges entrepreneurially?’

The Summit will run over three days, consisting of fireside chats, closed door leadership sessions and open sessions on wide aspects of sustainability and leadership topics.

Participants will hear sustainability trends and pick up on the skills needed to lead ground-breaking sustainability projects. The sessions promote connections and collaboration on start-up initiatives to impact local realities.

Speakers include Antti Vänskä, Finland Ambassador to Singapore; Tsuneo Suzuki, CEO and Founder of Inter Act Marketing; Peter David Pedersen, Co-Founder of NELIS (Next Leaders' Initiative for Sustainability); Prof. Jeff Obbard of NUS; Lekha Patmanathan, co-founder of Nexenergy; Yasmine Khater, Host of Sales Story Podcast; Lucas Sanchez, co-founder and managing partner at Hermanos Brothers - a creative bureau based in Colombia using arts and education to foster innovation and systemic change; and more. Jovin Hurry chairs the Summit.

Next Leader's Asia Summit 2019 is organised by NELIS, a global network of young leaders working on solutions for sustainability from around the globe. NELIS found its roots in Japan.

Profiting from Sustainability Talks at ITB Asia 2019

SINGAPORE, 12 September 2019. Once again ITB Asia will bring together players from the tourism, hospitality, transport, theme parks and attractions industry in Singapore from 16 to 18 October 2019. The venue for conferences, talks and exhibition: Sands Expo and Convention Centre at the Marina Bay Sands.

Speakers with proven experience are lined up for two hours from 1:30pm to speak on the business aspects of running a tourism venture while taking into account impacts on society and the environment. The topics are as follows:

Other themes at this year’s event are Corporate Travel, Muslim Travel and Travel Technology. Altogether, there’ll be over 200 sessions led by more than 260 speakers.

This year, for the first time, a mega event on inaugural meetings, incentives, conferences & exhibitions (MICE) will be held alongside ITB Asia. At MICE Show Asia, attendees will get to hear about forecasts for the global meeting and events industries in 2020, and how the industry is transforming. Venue remains at Sands Expo and Convention Centre

2019 Taiwan Modern Tourism Forum in Kaohsiung

Bringing people together to discuss trends and innovation in ecotourism, sustainable tourism, mountain tourism and more, Taiwan Modern Tourism Forum takes place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan from 15 to 16 October 2019.

The Taiwan Modern Tourism Forum provides a platform where tourism trends and innovative ideas could be shared along with learning experiences benefiting local participants. The two-day event focuses on how to develop sustainable tourism through culture, ecology and economy. This is in line with the current Year of Taiwan Small Town Ramble and next year’s Year of Mountain Tourism, both designated by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau.

International speakers will convene in Kaohsiung to address topics within three main tracks: the way to develop sustainable tourism; the responsible travel – ecotourism; and the attraction of mountain tourism. Expected audiences are people from tourism related industry, government and institutions.

Post Forum Field Trip

On day two of the forum, participants are invited to go on a learning field trip to Weiwuying.  What used to be a military center is now a vibrant 116-acre parkland, capturing the culture and imagination of Southern Taiwan in the performing arts.  

A highlight is the 1.51million-square-foot National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts at the end of the park. It blurs the boundaries between indoors and outdoors and is both solid and void.  Pre-registration is required for this tour.

The National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts sits on a parkland that was once a military base in Taiwan. It is also the venue of the 2019 Taiwan Modern Tourism Forum.
