Singapore International Energy Week 2018

The Singapore International Energy Week is an annual platform for energy professionals, policymakers and commentators to discuss and share best practices and solutions within the global energy space. This year, SIEW takes place from 29 October to 2 November 2018.

The appetite for economic development and urban progress, coupled with climate change concerns and the development of more efficient energy technologies, is driving change among consumers and energy industries.

The Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and discussions on pertinent energy-related issues, while simultaneously meeting the strategic objectives of Singapore’s commitment to becoming a global leader among energy companies converging on the event, as well as to provide a platform to showcase innovative products and solutions in the energy marketplace.

The deployment and integration of new technologies, and the growth in energy demand are transforming the energy landscape.  To facilitate this transition, it is important to address capital market barriers and foster an enabling environment for infrastructure investment.  Policymakers, investors and industry leaders must ride this wave of opportunity to invest, innovate and integrate energy systems for a more resilient energy future.

 Why attend the event?

1. Hear global energy leaders and experts share their insights on energy future

Meet the world’s energy thought leaders as they share insights at the Singapore International Energy Week.

Truly a gathering of the “Who’s Who” in the energy community, SIEW brings together players from across the energy spectrum including governments, industry captains and heads of international organisations.

Headline speakers this year include Mr Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s Minister for Trade & Industry; Dr Fatih Birol, Executive Director, International Energy Agency (IEA); Mr Adnan Amin, Director-General, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA); Mr Yuji Kakimi, President of JERA; and Mr John Abbott, Downstream Director and Member of the Executive Committee, Shell.

 2. Engage with energy institutions and industry platforms

SIEW continues to bring the world’s leading conferences and exhibitions together in one week, one location.

The Singapore-IEA Forum, co-hosted by the EMA and the International Energy Agency (IEA), will focus on the digital energy system of the future, while our SIEW partners, Asia Clean Energy Summit, Asian Downstream Summit and Gas Asia Summit, will bring you the latest in renewable energy, downstream and gas.

For more niche energy issues and in-depth discussions, head to the SIEW Thinktank Roundtables, held in partnership with the world’s leading international organisations, including: the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Institute for the Analysis of Global Security (IAGS), Energy Research Institute @ Nanyang Technological University (ERI@N), Energy Studies Institute (ESI), Institute of Energy Economics, Japan (IEEJ), and International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).

3. Forge new connections and collaborations

SIEW provides a platform for the discussion of key energy issues and their impact on Asia. EMA’s anchor event, the Singapore Energy Summit, will feature expert views and insights on the energy transformation in ASEAN, diving into the opportunities and challenges in energy investment, innovation and integration. Major report launches will also be featured at SIEW Energy Insights.

In addition, the SIEW Networking Receptions allow you to meet energy professionals from various sectors and countries, ensuring that you make the relevant contacts for meaningful engagements.

About SIEW

First held in 2008, SIEW is organised by the Singapore Energy Market Authority (EMA), a statutory board formed in 2001 under the aegis of the Ministry of Trade and Industry. EMA is tasked to promote effective competition in the energy market, ensure a reliable and secure energy supply, and develop a dynamic energy sector in Singapore.
