Pomeroy has pledged to support one student per year from Southeast Asia who can demonstrate ‘interest and commitment’ to the design and development of sustainable built environments, and who will enrol in Cambridge University's Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (IDBE) Master's degree. The scholarship has been established by award-winning architect, academic, and IDBE alumnus Prof. Jason Pomeroy, founding principal of his Singapore-based interdisciplinary design and research firm. IDBE Course Director, Dr. Kayla Friedman emphasised that Southeast Asia is expected to grow rapidly in the next 30 years, “… while simultaneously being prone to a number of increasing climate risks.” The need for informed experts is growing.

Pomeroy said he attributes much of his green agenda success to the collaborative, interdisciplinary approach at the heart of the IDBE programme. “Sustainability in the built environment has never been more crucial (given) population increases, climate change, globalisation and unpresented technological advancements,” he said. “If you think you have the passion, drive and commitment to push the boundaries of sustainable design and research, we want to hear from you!”
