Clean and Green Singapore 2014 Theme Song

Singapore, 14 December 2013. Clean and Green Singapore 2014 has a new theme song. "Mother Nature's Cry" has been chosen to reflect the thrusts of environmental protection and care for nature by the National Environment Agency in Singapore. It is the winning entry of the Eco Music Challenge 2013.

Charles Basa, 23, Nur Ashriqin, 21, and Samuel Simpson, 25, emerged as the winning team in the Eco Music Challenge (EMC) 2013 final.

The music video aims to inspire listeners towards safeguarding and cherishing the environment.

Nur Ashriqin is also a well-known singer and rapper in the local hip hop scene via the moniker Sheeq Luna. She frequently performs alongside other hip hop artistes under XS Collective, which is a group of performers and artists promoting hip hop culture in Singapore.

Their winning song, ‘Mother Nature’s Cry’ came out tops over 163 submissions.

The trio's song were among the final 12 entries that were shortlisted. The finalists attended two weeks of mentorship under well-known vocal coach John Lee, renowned composer Dick Lee, veteran songwriter Clement Chow, popular local performer Jack Ho, singer-songwriter Shimona Kee and Timbre co-founder Danny Loong.

The finalists received training and guidance on their lyrics, music arrangement, instrumentation, vocals and showmanship from these industry veterans.

Organised by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for the fourth year, the Eco Music Challenge is a national songwriting competition that encourages musicians of all ages to submit original music compositions with a "green" theme.

Eco Music Challenge Season 4 album is on sale. Nett proceeds will go towards NEA's adopted charity, Children's Cancer Foundation.
