Victoria Resorts’ Environmental Cleanup, Indochina
On September 27, a “green wave” will spread from Vietnam’s north-west highlands and coast to the Mekong Delta and world famous Angkor temples. And you can be part of it.
Indochina's Victoria Hotels and Resorts chain is mounting a Green Day across the surrounding areas of its six resorts and spas in Vietnam and Cambodia. The campaign will focus on cleaning up and environmental awareness to all, kids and villagers alike. Staff members will lead the operation, while resort trucks partner with local authorities to dispose of the rubbish. Hotel guests can opt to get their hands dirty too, by signing up at Reception.
Victoria Sapa Resort and Spa in the montane town of Sapa, beneath Vietnam's highest peak, has gotten 1,200 local schoolchildren to join the clean-up. Along with local authorities and partners, these kids are mostly from minority hill tribes.
In the Mekong delta, Victoria Chau Doc Hotel and Victoria Can Tho Resort plan to sweep clean the Sam Mountain, a popular hiking destination with the help of 300 staff, local community volunteers and schoolchildren.
On Vietnam’s coast, Victoria’s spa resorts at Phan Thiet and Hoi An are organizing beach and river clean-ups; 600 volunteers are expected to join the event. Over in Cambodia, the World Heritage-listed Angkor Wat temples will be spruced up by Victoria Angkor Spa & Resort.
This is the fifth year of the boutique chain’s environmental campaigning. Eric Simard, Managing Director of Victoria Hotels & Resorts said, “As a group we are committed to spreading the environmental message across Indochina.”
Recognized for its environmental leadership, Victoria Sapa Resort & Spa has been voted ‘Best Hotel in the North-West Region’ by The Guide, a publication of the Vietnam Economic Times. Victoria Chau Doc Hotel has recently won an award from the same publication for its “Ingenious use of plants to make a green statement”.
Victoria Hotels & Resorts is a boutique group of six Indochina retreats embracing off–the-beaten-track mountain and beach spa resorts in Vietnam, two colonial-style hotels in the Mekong Delta, and an elegant spa resort at Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
